The Burns Recreation Center features a fitness center, group fitness studios, multi-purpose courts, tennis courts, and an Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool. In addition to lockers and showers, the Burns Rec Center offers the Finish Line where you can purchase energy bars, juices, protein shakes and equipment check out. The goal of the Burns Recreation Center is to fulfill the needs of all of our members by providing them with the best experience possible.
The Loft is a unique private social club on campus serving the LMU community, providing local SoCal draft beer and wine. Memberships are available for all current students, faculty, staff and alumni age 21 and up. The Loft is committed to providing a social space in which the LMU community can gather to build a sense of community, engage in dialogue, watch sporting events and encourage responsible drinking across LMU students while expanding their craft beer palates. Admission to the Loft is open to members and their guests only.
The Living Room is an on-campus performance center operated by the student-run Mane Entertainment. Events at The Living Room allow students to enjoy bands, comedians, hypnotists, spoken word, and other forms of entertainment. Mane Entertainment has brought in such performers as One Republic, Rooney, Young the Giant, Kate Voegele, Justin Nozuka, Jason Reeves, Tyrone Wells and Andy Grammer.
There is never a dull moment in the community of Lion Nation. From musical concerts to celebrity guest speakers to guest food events, LMU offers a variety of on campus events for all students, and only walking distance for on campus students. Many of our buildings boast outdoor recreation spaces including a basketball court, sand volleyball court, barbecue grills and comfortable seating areas. The many open fields across campus where students play various sports, picnic, and enjoy the sun.
Healthy Body, Healthy Planet. LMU offers over 2 miles of bike lanes, 34 bike rack locations, and 4 campus pump & repair stands for our students. We also feature many bike prorgams including an active bicycle club, events to encourage bicycling, and partnerships with local bicycle shops. Plus, not to mention, Southern California usually provides sunshine year-round to make your ride that more enjoyable!
The Cycling Lion is a new bike share program located on campus where you can easily rent a bike or take your bikes for repairs
LMU is a relatively small campus. You will find most destinations are just a short walk away. If you choose to bring your car to campus, parking is available at various locations. All students must register their on-campus vehicles with the Department of Parking and Transportation. All students are charged a fee to park on campus, you must opt-out by visiting the above website.
LMU offers a shuttle system and Zipcar© available to rent for times when you want to leave campus. You’ll find LMU is an ideal location — just minutes away from the beach, and it’s easy to take advantage of all of the highlights that Los Angeles has to offer. Students take advantage of these services to visit a variety of LA locations: the Getty, LACMA, Hollywood sign or take a quick trip to the market.
The LMU OneCard is your key to convenience. It’s your student ID, key to your room, library card and more. The OneCard may also be used to purchase cycles on laundry machines, products at the bookstore, and food at campus dining facilities and select off campus restaurants. You can access the campus-wide Wi-Fi network directly from your room and from all campus computer labs. This allows you to access the campus-wide email system, LINUS (the online library catalog system) and the internet anytime. You can connect to the network by plugging into the ports in your room or by accessing the wireless service provided in the residence halls.
LMU is located in the second-largest metropolitan area in the country. The University has its own Department of Public Safety. Officers patrol the campus around the clock. Resident Advisors are also on duty in every building each night from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM, once classes resume. They are trained to be attentive, responsive and to contact Public Safety when needed.
Built in 2009, LMU’s state-of-the-art library, William H. Hannon Library, is comprised of 120,928 square feet, with three levels above ground and a two-story basement below ground for high density collections storage. Laundry facilities are available in each building, and our Laundry Alert system can notify you by cell phone or email when a machine becomes available or when your laundry is done. Just add funds to your Flexi account and use your OneCard to run washing machines and dryers.
